Photo-book of Wang Juyan’s photographic work. I discovered his work thanks to the excellent magazine Foam. This is a series of photographs of the Silk Road bound in the form of an accordion fold book. The embroidered silk thread slips across the mountains outline. The briefing asked for a work with a narrative thread, it had to tell a story. When I interviewed Wang Juyan I discovered that the purpose of his work was exactly the opposite. He wanted to arouse sensations and textures, escaping from any kind of narrative. That is how I came up with the idea of the thread –a literal narrative thread going through the mountains. The binding is fabric hardcover. The title is a golden stamping.
